Waterboarding - Try it on yourself - The More You Know

When considering the debate on water-boarding, a healthy skeptic or student will not just trust the opinions of others but go straight to the source, or as close as they can:

Try this at home:

1) Get into your shower as you would on any normal day. Water temperature can be whatever you like (remember it really would be ice cold). Stand with your back to the shower-head as the stream of water rushes at the back of your head.

2) Begin to tilt your head back as the stream of water begins to shift to the top of your head and over your eyes and ears. By now, your hearing is muffled, eyes are closed but breathing through your mouth.

3) Here is the hard part, now slowly tilt your head all the way back as your nostrils fill with water. Water may begin entering your mouth - This is the moment you need to experience. Do you try to breathe? I did, and man did it hurt and quickly put an end to my experiment.
STOP HERE. DO NOT try to continue this, as you could aspirate water into your lung tissue and cause irritation, do further damage or eventually cause infection.

My nostrils are burning and my chest burned for only a minute or so, but I only allowed myself possibly a second or maybe two "full-tilt" - and I was under my own control. If someone else were doing this to me and I was blindfolded and restrained and didn't know when it would end - I know I would be terrified.

This is a little experiment to try, that maybe you should consider when studying the Water-boarding debate.

Update on Photos

Direct Link update:

May 29-31, 2009 -- Obama continues the cover-up of White House involvement in Iraqi sexual torture

President Obama's refusal to release explicit photographs and videos showing U.S., coalition, and contractor military personnel engaged in heterosexual and homosexual rape and molestation at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and other detention facilities in the occupied nation is allowing the Bush-Cheney administration to have a free pass in its involvement in and cover-up of the sordid practices. Obama claims he is trying to protect U.S. troops from retaliation but, in effect, he is only protecting Bush and Cheney by refusing to release the photographic and video evidence that could be used in their war crimes trials.

On November 18, 2005, WMR reported the following:

"There is good reason for the embarrassment of the Pentagon in the affair. The orders to take the sexually-oriented photos and videos, some of which involve teenage Iraqi boys and girls and sodomization by their guards, came directly from a pedophile and closeted male homosexual ring operating in the White House, according to the intelligence sources. Copies of the tapes and photos were sent directly to the White House for the entertainment of senior members of the Bush White House, including officials in the Vice President's office and the Executive Office of the President.

When the photos at Abu Ghraib became public, the senior military command structure in Iraq 'went nuts,' according to an individual who witnessed the cover-up of the affair. 'They ordered an immediate policy of denial about details of the prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib,' said the source. The source added that senior officers were disgusted that lower ranking guards were prosecuted and jailed when the order for the mistreatment came directly from the White House."

On December 22, 2008, WMR reported on the "installation of live streaming black boxes in the White House and the Eisenhower Old Executive Office Building used to stream live video of torture sessions in Guantanamo, Cuba and Abu Ghraib to the Old Executive Office Building office of Vice President Dick Cheney's Chief Counsel David Addington and into the White House, itself. Media reports of torture sessions being taped may have been planted by the White House to deter investigators away from looking at live streaming capabilities in the offices of Cheney and President Bush."

The distinct possibility that Cheney, Addington, and others in the White House were being entertained by rape videos live from Baghdad demands that Obama release what is in the Pentagon's and CIA's possession forthwith. Otherwise, he will inherit the cover-up began by his predecessor and face the legal consequences of such action.

PressTV has reported on the photos WMR ran yesterday, photos that were only immediately called bogus in 2004 by neo-con and Israeli-influenced news outlets, including World Net Daily, Jewish World Review(and its contributor, former Washington Times editor Wes Pruden), Israel Forum, and the Boston Herald. These and other like-minded operations were also front-and-center in attacking Texas Air national Guard documents showing that George W. Bush was absent without leave (AWOL) were fake, even though Republican operatives had taken the originals and faxed, copied, and scanned them several times in order that they lost their "originality." As is known from the Niger yellow cake and other episodes, the neocons are masters at disinformation and psychological warfare operations (PSYOPs).

Unlike Watergate, in which the question was "What did the President [Nixon] know and when did he know it?" the question now is "The President knows and what is he going to do about it?"

Henry Kissinger and How He Infuriates Me Still

He is still covered in today's media-multi-sphere as a respectable figure when he has stated PUBLICLY these things:

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy."
Woodward and Bernstein The Final Days in chapter 14

------------------------

"Intelligence is not all that important in the exercise of power, and is often, in point of fact, useless.

-----------------------

"It is an act of insanity and national humiliation to have a law prohibiting the President from ordering assassination."
Statement at a National Security Council meeting in 1975.

-----------------------

“I can think of no faster way to unite the American people behind George W. Bush than a terrorist attack on an American target overseas. And I believe George W. Bush will quickly unite the American people through his foreign policy.” Statement from 2000.

----------------------

“Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world, because the US economy will require large and increasing amounts of minerals from abroad, especially from less developed countries.”

----------------------

"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will pledge with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will willingly be relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by their world government. "
In an address to the Bilderberger organization meeting at Evian, France, on May 21, 1991. As transcribed from a tape recording made by one of the Swiss delegates.

25 May 2009: Odd Findings around the N.Korean Nuclear Tests

From my research the DPRK is willing to ratchet up tensions in order to gain leverage in negotiations for fuel oil and food with this most recent nuclear test. This follows with there previous provocations with failed missile tests. Also troubling were the missile tests concurrently launched. You don't want drone spy planes flying into rogue missile tests, undoubtedly a tactic that "would" have been used to gain command intelligence on what was going on at the underground test location.

What the article below follows is the suicide of the neo-con enemey ex-President Roh Moo-hyun - One of the most outspoken proponents of Kim Dae-Jung's Sunshine Policy of the Late 90's until it was completely and surprisingly curtailed by the George W. Bush Administration.

What is the timing? - Roh "commits suicide" just before a DPRK nuclear test. Now his voice is no longer there to prevent an escalation of conflicts with this most recent escalations of tensions. My question, will Neo-Con President Lee Myung-bak plea to President Obama for a stronger stance against the DPRK. I will let you speculate on outcomes. Please COMMENT

May 25-26, 2009 -- South Korean ex-President Roh Moo-hyun targeted by neocon naval operation

Just a week prior to the December 2002 South Korean presidential election that pitted progressive liberal Millennium Democratic Party candidate Roh Moo-hyun against the pro-U.S. conservative candidate Lee Hoi Chang, the Spanish Navy, then under the command of the neo-con Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, intercepted a North Korean freighter in the Arabian Sea after honoring a special request from the U.S. Navy. The Spaniards and the Bush administration immediately floated the news that the ship was carrying Scud missiles for Iraq, then under the leadership of Saddam Hussein. At the time, the neocons in Washington and Madrid were looking for any excuse to begin military operations against Iraq and ratchet up tensions with North Korea.

The seizure of the North Korean vessel So San almost sank Roh's candidacy for president of South Korea, since he favored continuation of the "Sunshine Policy" of incumbent South Korean President Kim Dae-jung of rapprochement with North Korea at the same time the Bush administration was branding North Korea, Iraq, and Iran and an "Axis of Evil." The term "Axis of Evil" had already been conjured up by a cabal of neocons that included Bush speechwriters David Frum and Michael Gerson, State Department counter-proliferation undersecretary John Bolton, and House of Representatives apparatchik Yossef Bodansky.

The interception of the North Korean vessel and discovery of Scuds also came as a total surprise to Kim's government in Seoul, including top South Korean intelligence officials. The Son Sanwas permitted to continue to Hodeida, Yemen after being stopped by the Spanish Navy. Yemen maintained that the North Korean vessel was carrying cement, but the U.S. Navy insisted it seized Scud missiles. During the 1994 Yemeni civil war, in which the Clinton administration backed the victorious North Yemenis over South Yemen, the United States permitted the North to buy Scud missiles from the North Koreans. In fact, the North Korean ship was transporting 15 Scuds, conventional warheads, Scud missile parts, and missile fuel for the Yemenis. The parts were for missiles procured by Sana'a during the Yemeni civil war and approved by the Clinton administration. The missiles were transported to a Yemeni missile base near Sana'a after delivery to Hodeida.

The Spanish paper El Pais wrote that the entire incident with the North Korean vessel had been staged by Washington to send a warning to North Korea. However, it appears that the actual target of the naval incident was to try to influence the South Korean presidential election, which was one week away. Then-Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz played a leading role in negotiating with the Yemenis over the release of the missiles and the North Korean ship.

The conservative Grand National Party immediately went on the offensive against Roh and his Sunshine Policy with the North after the seizure of the North Korean ship. Its candidate Lee was narrowly trailing Roh in polls and it was clear the U.S. seizure of the North Korean ship was intended to influence the South Korean electorate. It was also clear that the Bush administration favored Lee over Roh and was prepared to do anything to bring about a victory for Lee and his right-wingers. Some political observers in Seoul blamed the Bush administration for staging the naval incident in a bid to help Lee.

However, younger voters, who opposed the U.S. hegemony over South Korea and wanted better relations with the North, made the difference and handed Roh a victory and the neocons in Washington a bitter pill.

In 2004, South Korea's two main opposition parties impeached Roh. The nation's Constitutional Court reinstated Roh three days after his impeachment. In October 2007, Roh held a meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong Il amid heavy criticism from Washington after the North detonated its first nuclear weapon.

Roh was being investigated by South Korean prosecutors for allegedly accepting bribes from Taekwang Industries chairman Park Yeon-cha. However, prosecutors were not keen on investigating similar alleged bribes paid by the South Korean tycoon to friends of Roh's pro-American successor Lee Myung-bak.

On May 22, Roh reportedly committed suicide by jumping off a cliff near his home in Busan. Roh had allegedly gone on an early-morning hike. Roh's alleged suicide note includes the sentence: "Don't blame anybody."

Taekwang, which stands accused of paying bribes to Roh, was a major player in the South Korean cable television market in 2007. Taekwang MSO's major cable competitors were entities controlled by or linked to the Carlyle Group.

N.Korean Nuclear Test

2nd Test. More to come. I researching world media for the most accurate reports. I will then form an opinion on the policy decisions at hand. Update Coming.

Thoughts on Pig Flu and whole lot more.

What do these things have in common:

Aspartame
HDTV
Tamiflu

not only that ... but how about rBGH (the "milk hormone" or "bovine growth hormone" we've been feeding our cows)

Donald Rumsfeld

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumsfeld

From 1977 to 1985 Rumsfeld served as Chief Executive Officer, President, and then Chairman of G. D. Searle & Company, a worldwide pharmaceutical company based in Skokie, Illinois. During his tenure at Searle, Rumsfeld led the company's financial turnaround, thereby earning awards as the Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Wall Street Transcript (1980) and Financial World (1981). In 1985, Searle was sold to Monsanto. Rumsfeld is believed to have earned around $12 million from this sale.[26]
Rumsfeld served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Instrument Corporation from 1990 to 1993. A leader in broadband transmission, distribution, and access control technologies for cable, satellite and terrestrial broadcasting applications, the company pioneered the development of the first all-digital high-definition television (HDTV) technology. After taking the company public and returning it to profitability, Rumsfeld returned to private business in late 1993
From January 1997 until being sworn in as the 21st Secretary of Defense in January 2001, Rumsfeld served as Chairman of Gilead Sciences, Inc. Gilead Sciences is the developer of Tamiflu (Oseltamivir), which is used in the treatment of bird flu.[27]As a result, Rumsfeld's holdings in the company grew significantly when avian flu became a subject of popular anxiety during his later term as Secretary of Defense. Following standard practice, Rumsfeld recused himself from any decisions involving Gilead, and he directed the Pentagon's General Counsel issue instructions outlining what he could and could not be involved in if there were an avian flu pandemic and the Pentagon had to respond.[28][29][30]

From the buyout of Searle by Monsanto (Aspartame, rBGH) , to taking General Instrument Co. public (w/ HDTV), then to become Chairman of Gilead Sciences (Tamiflu - a la marketing help from Roche Pharmaceuticals) - Donald Rumsfeld has had a financial stake in all of these products - reaping hordes of cash. He then becomes Secretary of Defense with influence on affairs we will never know.

This comes to mind with the Pig Flu all the rage - look at how well Roche is doing - and they only do/did the marketing (not only the US but Japan, as well - think SARS, Avian flu):

http://biz.yahoo.com/ic/41/41787.html

Roche is on a roll. The company operates two segments, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, and sells its products in more than 150 countries. Roche's prescription drugs include cancer therapies MabThera/Rituxan and Herceptin, anemia treatment NeoRecormon/Epogin, hepatitis drug Pegasys, transplant drug CellCept, obesity treatment Xenical, and Tamiflu, which is used to prevent and treat influenza, including avian strains. The company markets many of its bestsellers through subsidiary Genentech and affiliate Chugai Pharmaceutical (Japan). Roche's diagnostics arm offers advanced DNA tests, diabetes monitoring supplies, and point-of-care diagnostics used in a variety of health care settings.
Don will certainly make a lot of money from the sales of Tamiflu (oseltamivir sulfate)

I am not even touching on what this man did as the Secretary of Defense during the build-up, execution, victory and occupation of Iraq. I would just like to point out the interconnectedness of this man on so many levels in making money.
